Singapore Public Holidays 2015

Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MoM) has announced the official Singapore public holiday calendar for 2015. Look forward to 11 off days in total. Most of them fall on Monday or Friday, this makes a whopping seven long weekends to look forward to. Travelers rejoice and plan early, 2015 looks to be an exciting year ahead.

Many of the Singapore public holidays dates are based on religious calendar or lunar calendar, thus the dates changes every year. Here is the list of holiday dates in 2015.

Singapore Long Weekends 2015

Some holidays are classified as long weekends,  this happen when the public holiday falls on a Friday, Sunday, or Monday, which in effect adding one or two days to the weekend days-off. These long weekends are popular travel dates among Singaporeans as well as foreigners working in Singapore as it means they can take less days off their annual leave entitlement. Vesak Day 2015
Off-days: 3 days ( Saturday, 30 May 2015 – Monday, 1 June 2015)

Hari Raya Puasa 2015
Off-days: 3 days ( Friday, 17 July 2015 – Sunday, 19 July 2015)

Singapore National Day 2015
Off-days: 3 days ( Saturday, 8 August 2015 – Monday, 10 August 2015)

Christmas Day 2015
Off-days: 3 days ( Friday, 25 December 2015 – Sunday, 27 December 2015)

As you can see, plenty of vacation times in the year 2015 for Singaporeans. The only holidays which does not form long weekends are New Year’s Day, Hari Raya Haji and Deepavali. Furthermore, taking into account that New Year’s Eve is usually when people are in holiday mode, with many taking the day off, New Year’s Day (Thursday) sort of falls into the long-weekend category.
